Changes over
the cycle.

Hey there! The menstrual cycle is a fascinating process that happens within a woman's body. It consists of four distinct phases: menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal. Let's dive into each of these phases below.

Menstrual Phase

During this phase, which typically lasts 3-7 days, the uterine lining is shed, which can cause some cramping and bleeding. Hormonal levels decrease during this phase, which can cause breast tenderness or pain. Remember, every woman's experience of the menstrual phase is unique to her.

Follicular Phase

The follicular phase comes after the menstrual phase and usually lasts 7-10 days. During this phase, the body prepares for ovulation. Hormonal levels increase, which can cause your breast tissue to feel dense or swell. It is also common for women to experience an increase in libido during this phase.

Ovulatory Phase

The ovulatory phase is when the ovary releases an egg. Hormonal changes during this phase include a surge in estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH). This can cause your breasts to feel fuller and more sensitive. Additionally, some may experience abdominal pain or cramping.

Luteal Phase

Finally, during the luteal phase, the body prepares for menstruation just in case conception did not occur. It usually lasts 10-14 days. During this phase, hormonal levels increase, which can cause your breasts to feel swollen or tender, and mood swings or other emotional symptoms can appear.

It's important for women to understand the changes that happen to their bodies throughout their lives, including the changes that happen to their breasts. By understanding these changes, women can take better care of their bodies and improve their overall health and well-being.
